“Urban Market” Pops Up in Arlington at “The Crossing”

Pop Ups offer small businesses in-person marketing opportunity

URBN Market is popping up all over for the holidays. This one at Clarendon’s The Crossing added to holiday spirit the first week of December.

URBN Market is popping up all over for the holidays. This one at Clarendon’s The Crossing added to holiday spirit the first week of December.

Soup, baby clothes, jewelry, art, chocolates - they were all on offer at the “urban market” which took over the street in Clarendon for two days at the beginning of December. Other “Urbnmarkets” will be set up before Christmas, one at Mosaic and one in Bethesda. URBNmarket bills itself as “a curated marketplace celebrating the art of creating. Artisan vendors can connect with a like-minded community to sell their handmade and vintage creations to an engaged audience.”  Urbnmarket urges local makers and entrepreneurs join them to showcase their talent and to be part of a movement valuing inspiration and individuality.

Most vendors offered gifts more typical of the season: chocolate, perfume, jewelry, handmade greeting cards, and baby clothes. But the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Falls Church offered a discount on dance lessons. They offer Swing dancing as well as Latin and Ballroom styles. Olivia Jones at WOW Closets offered improved closet organization.

Super Soup was doing a brisk business, aided by the chilly weather during the pop up.
