Dan River at South Boston affecting Halifax County
...Up to 1.5 inches of rain which fell last night across eastern reaches
of the Dan River has caused South Boston to rise into Action Stage. Further
small rises are expected this afternoon with a crest of 19.3 feet expected
early this evening before falling below flood around midnight.
The National Weather Service in Blacksburg Va has issued a
* Flood Warning for
the Dan River at South Boston
* from this afternoon until Tuesday morning
* At 01PM Monday the stage was 18.4 feet.
* Flood Stage is 19.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and
continue to rise to near 19.3 feet by this evening.The river will
fall below flood stage by around midnight.
* Impact...at 19.0 feet...Flooding begins in low-lying agricultural
land and woods.
* Flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 20.0
feet on Feb 13 2018.
