...Hot and humid conditions will continue today...
.A strong high in the upper levels of the atmosphere will be
centered over our region today. A hot and humid air mass will
persist until the high drifts westward tonight and Friday.
...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING...
* HEAT INDEX...Heat index readings will be very similar to
Independence Day. The peak heat index will range from 102 to 112
degrees again this afternoon. The heat index will run at or
above 100 degrees from late morning all the way into the early
evening in many places.
* IMPACTS...The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will lead to an increased risk of heat related stress and
illness. The very young, the elderly, those without air
conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor
activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors can
reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
