The Capital City Showcase, the variety show that features the DMV's best performing artists and hosted by Christian Hunt, returns with its new one-of-a-kind blend of entertainment: The Comedy Karaoke Trivia Funtime Show on Saturday, November 19th at 7:30pm!
Bring a team or fly solo and win prizes by dropping knowledge in a trivia competition, then duking it out in a karaoke battle!
This fantastic event is at Highline RxR, located at 2010 Crystal Drive, Arlington VA 22202 on the last Saturday of every month. This amazing experience features stand-up comedy from the DC area's finest comics. November's headliner is the hilarious Sean Savoy!
Here's how it works:
1. We start with three rounds of top-of-the-line trivia
2. Then we have a world-class stand-up comedy performance
3. And finally, the top three teams in the trivia standings send up one player each for a karaoke battle, and the audience determines the winner
4. After the competition, we will pivot to a regular sign-up karaoke night, so everyone gets a chance to sing
Tickets are only $10 per person when you reserve a group of six to eight people. Individual tickets are $15 per person.
EVERY attendee can participate! Or you can simply come to enjoy the festivities.
There is FREE parking in the lot next to Highline RxR, located at 2144 Crystal Dr, Arlington VA, 22202. Highline RxR is also a 5-minute walk from the Crystal City Metro Station.

COFFEE AND CONVERSATION WITH ARLINGTON NEIGHBORHOOD VILLAGE (ANV)
"Coffee and Conversation" speaker series. Everyone is invited to join the conversation via Zoom. Bring your own coffee, learn interesting things about our community and hear from the speakers listed below.
November 9: ServiceSource. ServiceSource is a nonprofit organization with a mission to facilitate services and partnerships to support people with disabilities, their families, their caregivers and community members in order to build more inclusive communities. Kathleen Baker, Director of Program Administration, will talk to us about the wide array of services ServiceSource provides to support those living with developmental disabilities lead full and productive lives.
November 16: Hearing Aids: Say What?! Join us for a presentation on hearing aids which will include information about the hearing evaluation, how to interpret an audiogram, types and styles of hearing aids, and how the Over The Counter hearing aids are predicted to change the way many of us will be able to afford hearing aids. Bonnie O’Leary, Certified Peer Mentor and Outreach Manager with the Northern Virginia Resource Center for Deaf & Hard of Hearing Persons (NVRC), is a late-deafened adult who has been wearing hearing aids for over 25 years. She will talk to us about the communication challenges of hearing loss, and who are likely candidates for OTC hearing aids.
November 23: Christmas in Arlington. Thanksgiving marks the start of the Christmas holiday season. What once was a religious holiday, full of both solemn rituals and longstanding tradition, has now become a more secular holiday, encompassing traditions from a variety of cultures. Annette Benbow from the Arlington Historical Society will share with us how Christmas has evolved over the years, from the Lee’s celebrations at Arlington House, to the opening of the Parkington Shopping Center in the 1950’s and beyond.
November 30, 2022: Update on National Landing. With the award of Amazon’s HQ2 project, South Arlington is undergoing an exciting transformation into a more complete, connected, and walkable urban downtown. Once completed, National Landing will encompass more than 20 million square feet of office, 26,000 residential units and over 4 million square feet of retail in addition to new academic space, new and enhanced parks, enlivened streetscapes, and billions of dollars of mobility infrastructure investment. Mr. Robert Mandle Deputy Executive Director with the National Landing Business Improvement District, will give us an update on the development of National Landing, and all that it has to offer.

The Washington Balalaika Society
We are thrilled that Baltimore's Kalinka Dance Ensemble will be featured in our fall concerts, “A Musical Journey Around the World." The Kalinka Dancers, aged 6 to 60, represent over 20 different ethnicities and nationalities. They have performed at venues throughout the Washington/Baltimore region, including the Kennedy Center, and the Hillwood Estate and Museum. At our concerts, they will perform folk dances from Poland, Greece, and Ukraine.
Concerts are Saturday, November 19, 8 pm at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater in Rockville MD and Sunday, November 20, 3 pm at the Kenmore Middle School Performing Arts Center in Arlington VA. Ticket prices are: Adults $30; Seniors/Military $25; Students $15; children 12 and under $5.
