— The viewing stands in Kettler Capitals Iceplex at Ballston Commons filled with parents and children and dozens of volunteers as the Washington Capitals took to the ice for practice on Friday morning, Feb. 8. The visitors went on to enjoy a complimentary lunch in the restaurant/lounge overlooking the skating complex. Later Capitals defenseman Tomas Kundratek, forward Jason Chimera and goaltender Braden Holtby skated and played hockey with more than 100 children.

The program, Dreams for Kids, is an international youth organization and 501(c) (3) children’s charity whose mission is to empower young people of all abilities including those with physical and developmental disabilities through leadership programs and life-changing activities. For the third year the Capitals have teamed up with Dreams for Kids to host the Extreme Recess Hockey clinic.
